To me, Labor Day marks the symbolic end of summertime and the unofficial start of fall.
So on a day like today, I want to reflect on how thankful I am to do something I love … coach people I really enjoy so they can improve their lives, gain physical and mental strength, relieve their pain, and be better for their friends and loved ones.
For me, it truly is a labor of love.
The change of seasons is the perfect time to take stock of where you are and set some goals for your health and fitness in the fall.
You may have heard me talk about SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely.
Well, I have some good news for you.
Your goal really only needs two of those components.
It just needs to be specific and timely.
In other words, “I want to lose 10 pounds in the next 8 weeks,” instead of, “I want to lose weight.”
It has to be something you can measure (so you know whether you achieved the goal or not), and there needs to be a deadline.
That’s all you really need to get started. As we move forward, we can adjust how we measure, and how achievable and relevant the goal is.
But the most important thing today is to set a goal and start taking the actions that you know will move you closer to achieving it.
So enjoy the holiday, and use this opportunity of the changing seasons to decide what kind of fall you’d like to have. What’s something specific and timely you can begin pursuing today, and achieve in the next, say, 4-8 weeks?
Reply back and let me know. I’d love to help you achieve it.
