Well, I can totally relate! Even though I’ve spent 19 years working as a personal trainer inside a big gym, I’m an introvert and know how stressful it can be to work out in a gym surrounded by other people.

Let’s face it, it is an extroverted world and most advertising for exercising is all about group classes, community, the social aspect of working out where people thrive and get more motivation to push harder from others.

They are geared toward people that don’t like being by themselves and want to be around a lot of people. Especially now that lockdowns are ending and gyms are opening back up. Now that gyms are allowed to have much larger classes advertisements are everywhere showcasing groups of people working out together with taglines like ‘FINALLY’.

You and I both know this isn’t what we are looking for. We thrived during lockdown when we didn’t have to spend the day at the office having our fellow employees sap our energy without even trying. Working from home was a dream come true. Even when the gyms initially opened the crowds were small enough that we didn’t have to worry about people coming too close.

Now everything is either opening up or has been opened up depending on where you live. Gyms are getting crowded again and people have to go back into the office to work. So much for not having to listen to Karen from accounting spill the latest gossip about everyone. She’ll have a lot to catch you up on.

So not only will you have to be around all the energy-sucking people at work but you will also have to be around all those energy-sucking people at the soon-to-be VERY crowded gyms. (almost makes you want to wish for another virus).

Being an introvert myself and having quite a few introverted clients I noticed something during the past couple of years…my introverted clients were seeing better results than they ever did when training outside of the gym.
