In my first conversation with a person who’s thinking about starting a fitness program with me, there are two key questions I like to ask:
1) What’s your dream-come-true result?
2) What needs to happen or change in order for you to achieve it?
The answer to both of these questions has to be very specific. In other words, “losing weight and toning” is not a specific enough result. “Losing 20 pounds and dropping 2 dress sizes,” or, “Losing 10 pounds of fat and 2 inches on my waist” would be much better.
Similarly, what has to happen or change should be equally specific. Oftentimes, our mindset … meaning our beliefs … have to change first. But for today, I want to get more specific on actions. “Exercising more and eating less” is not specific enough. “Committing to work out 3 days a week and including vegetables with every meal” is a much better starting point.
So I ask you …
What’s your dream-come-true result?
And …
What needs to happen or change in order for you to achieve it?
Reply back and be as specific as you can. I’ll be in touch to help you shape these responses in such a way that achieving that dream-come-true result will be much easier than you ever thought possible.
When it comes to goals and actions, clarity is key.
