Stop Trying to Be Perfect

Here’s another way I’ve seen people stumble with their health and fitness goals.

Trying to be perfect.

Scrolling through Instagram to find the perfect workout plan.

Getting distracted by the internet gurus who’ve come up with the latest, greatest and most perfect diet.

Training every day like it’s some sort of ironman competition … instead of taking time to recover, repair and rejuvenate.

Remember: Perfection is the enemy of progress.

So many times in life, we find ourselves waiting for the perfect time. And when it never comes (because there’s no such thing), we end up regretting that we wasted the time that we had.

When it comes to our fitness, we talk ourselves into believing that having the body and health that we want means we have to work out 2 hours a day, 6 days a week … and since we don’t have time for that (who does?), we end up doing nothing.

This all-or-nothing mentality and pursuit of perfection has derailed more well-intentioned fitness goals than I care to tell you.

Don’t fall into the trap.

Instead of seeking perfection, choose imperfect action.

Then, do it again.

And again.

Just keep making new decisions that will improve your outcomes and change your beliefs.

And stop trying to be perfect. Being imperfect and taking action is the way to create motivation and momentum … not the other way around.
